Services
If there are any questions regarding KPI’s services, please
do not hesitate to contact us.
• Broking KPI has historically acted
as a broker for the vast percentage of our bunker business.
The strength of the company has been to advise our customer
base on the current market situation and the expected market
price direction. The relationships that KPI has formed with
suppliers world-wide allows us to represent our customer base
in the best possible light enabling us to help our customers
develop credit relationships with the majority of the key
suppliers in the primary ports. This helps our customers receive
the best possible bunker prices with direct credit from the
suppliers.
• Trading Kristensons-Petroleum, Inc.,
KPI’s sister company, has substantial credit lines with suppliers
around the world and is able to step in as a trader for those
situations where our clients do not have an established line
of credit. This is a valuable asset to our services for those
clients who might be faced with requiring bunkers in a port
where the local suppliers do not extend credit. This means
that the owner is still able to take advantage of ANY attractive
offers that are available. Kristensons-Petroleum utilizes
reliable and established fuel suppliers in order to insure
that our clients’ vessels secure their specified grade of
fuel. All product that is furnished is within the standards
of ISO:8217:1996, unless stipulated beforehand.
• Spot Market The vast majority of
bunker requirements are bough through the “spot market” (with
purchases possible up to ten days prior to the ETA) and therefore
it is crucial that buyers be well informed of current market
conditions / trends. This will insure that buyers close their
requirements at both the best possible price and the most
optimum moment.
• Hedging The current volatility in
the bunker markets has some buyers opting to hedge their requirements.
Clients with vessels in a specific trading pattern can take
advantage of this tactic. Hedging can be facilitated in a
variety of ways and KPI would be happy to assist with any
option that an owner might be interested in pursuing.
• Forecasting A key element required
by the shipowning community is a yearly Bunker Price Forecast
detailing anticipated prices in most of the primary bunkering
ports. The forecast consists of two elements; the prices,
broken down by quarters, in the key ports and additionally,
cogent commentary explaining the rationale behind the pricing.
The managing partners of KPI/Kristensons bring almost 50 years
worth of combined experience to their forecasting expertise.
The Forecast is also updated on a semi annual basis to insure
an additional element of accuracy.
